NED f'n KELLY
This dynamic photographic collage visually explores the complex intersections of sexuality, identity, and mortality. Inspired by the bold and vibrant pop art style, I seek to challenge the representations of the female form and evoke empowerment and vulnerability.
My artwork explores the intersection of beauty and death by portraying a naked female body with a human skull replacing the head. This juxtaposition of the delicate, feminine form with the macabre symbol of death challenges societal perceptions of beauty and femininity. The positioning of the figure, bent over in front of a nude male figure wearing a Ned Kelly helmet, adds a layer of power dynamics to the piece, commenting on the objectification and exploitation of the female body. The use of vibrant, contrasting colours in the inkjet print medium further emphasises the work's themes of life and death and our power struggle.
